Known since Neolithic times, hand felted wool can form intriguingly soft and complex sculptural shapes. Anita will teach you fundamental felting techniques, how to make seamless three-dimensional forms using resists, to layer resists, and to model solid felted shapes in your hand using agitation and soapy water. Explore the wonderful realm of felted sculpture.
About Anita:
Anita Johnson has been making felted forms in her sculptural practice since 1994. Anita has a Bachelor of Visual Arts, Sydney College of the Arts (1993) and is represented by Defiance Gallery, Sydney. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally, in exhibitions such as The Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize (Winner 2023), The Wynne Prize, The Blake Prize, The Tamworth Textile Triennial, Sculpture by the Sea, Sculptural Felt International, and The Beijing Biennial.
Anita’s work is included in many collections, including Wollongong Art Gallery, The National Textile Collection, Macquarie University, Wollongong University and The Australian War Memorial Art Collection.
