It’s that time of the year again! The 2019 Annual Studio Exhibition will open on Saturday 28 September 4:00pm – 7:00pm and everyone is welcome to come and celebrate at the opening with us. Please tell all your family and friends! Drinks and nibbles with once again be generously provided by the Rose of Australia in Erskineville.
The ASE is an opportunity to showcase student work completed in classes at the school within the last 12 months. It is a chance to celebrate the progress and achievements of all TBSSS students.
After the opening, the exhibition will run from Monday 30 September – Friday 4 October. The Director’s Choice exhibition will continue to run in the Clara Street Gallery for some time after the close of the main exhibition.
This year, the exhibition will be opened by contemporary artist and Tom Bass Prize 2020 judge Alex Seton (biography and picture below).
Alex Seton (b 1977) is a multidisciplinary artist working in sculpture, photography, video and installation, best known for his use of marble carving. He maintains an interest in materiality and the performative object, inviting interplay and exchange between objects, bodies, and ideas.
Seton has exhibited widely – both nationally and internationally. His work is held in collections including the National Gallery of Australia; Artbank; Art Gallery of South Australia; Australian War Memorial; Newcastle Art Gallery; Bendigo Art Gallery; the Danish Royal Art Collection, Copenhagen; HBO Collection, New York; and numerous other private and public collections.
Seton is represented by Sullivan + Strumpf, Sydney and Singapore.
