Who We Are
Tom Bass was taught to sculpt by Antonio Dattilo-Rubbo (1870-1955) within a traditional ‘master-apprentice’ relationship. In 1974, after more than sixty years practicing his art, Tom founded his independent sculpture studio-school with the aim of teaching the fundamental principles, ideas and concepts vital to his tradition.
Today the Tom Bass Sculpture Studio School continues to develop a range of innovative and challenging programs which fulfil our core values of
- upholding the traditions of sculpture
- promoting of public sculpture and
- being a viable and vital part of the community
In 2003 the Tom Bass Sculpture Studio School became a not-for-profit Incorporated Association and is registered with the Register of Cultural Organisations. In 2018, we celebrated 20 years of our Studio being in Erskineville and in 2024, we celebrated our 50th anniversary as a Sculpture Studio!
As a non-for-profit organisation we rely on private donations and public funding. We would like to thank our donors and partners for their ongoing support.
