On Saturday 28 September, we all came together to celebrate the opening of the 2024 Annual Studio Exhibition. We were thrilled to see so many students, their friends and family, and visitors present at the event.
This year the exhibition featured just over 70 sculptures completed by students and teachers over the past year. Everything from the abstract to the figure, animals and reliefs, works in plaster and bronze, sculptures carved in alabaster, limestone and marble. A big congratulations to everybody who exhibited this year and on the high quality of work on display! This annual exhibition seems to get better every year, which is so wonderful to see.
We awarded three Prizes this year: Directors’ Choice went to Merridth Zagami’s plaster sculpture ‘Male head/s’ (pictured above left) and the Highly Commended Prize went to TBSSS Scholarship Student Elizabeth Peddell for her soapstone sculpture ‘Angel Wing’ (pictured above middle). The People’s Choice went to Emmanuel Pertsoulis for his marble sculpture ‘Lost in Thought’ (pictured above right). Congratulations to Merridth, Elizabeth and Emmanuel!
Finally, we would like to extend our thanks to all the teachers and volunteer students who participated in the set-up (including cleaning) and pack-down of this year’s exhibition. The studio space was transformed unrecognisably during the ASE period due to all your hard work.
If you missed the exhibition, we will be uploading photos to our website and socials later this month, keep your eyes peeled.
