A note from Simon about the exhibition:
This is a series of pieces sculpted largely from sandstone and wood.  Some were made de novo and others are based on found material such as pieces of burnt wood and rusted steel.  Often a piece reveals something unexpected about the material and how it has evolved. There are a couple of sculptural parodies included too. Hopefully some pieces are interesting and even worth a longer look.

Simon’s sculptures are indeed worth a longer look!  The interesting and diverse forms have a narrative of gesture, movement and rhythm which strongly evokes the natural world so fascinating to Simon. Varied colour, texture and materials combine to create this amazing body of work. The exhibition is the product of a busy period of 7 years since his 2015 exhibition Evolving Forms at Clara Street Gallery.

All nett proceeds from the exhibition are being donated to Medicins Sans Frontieres Australia. Clara Street Gallery is pleased to note a number of sales already which will benefit the work of MSF!

You can see Simon’s exhibition at Clara Street Gallery until the end of January 2023. Open Mon – Fri, 9:30am – 1:30pm until Wednesday 21 Dec. Opening again from 4 Jan, Mon – Fri 9:30am – 1:30pm until the end of January. For more information about Simon’s sculptures, please visit Simon’s website here.

Congratulations Simon![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
