In a year that has required us to dig deeper into our inner resources, this life study course offers the opportunity to find an expression for how we might physically represent emotion in the figure study.
While bringing a fresh eye to the exploration of rhythm, negative space, weights and balances, the student will be encouraged to consider how they might go beyond a merely representational description of the life model and draw out a deeper emotional interpretation.
This workshop will guide both the beginner and the more experienced artist through the process involved in working with clay from the life model. Jenny will encourage students to push their work beyond a merely faithful representation of the body and develop a more personal language or means of expression.
During this 9 week course students will have time to bring their work to a point where it is hollowed out and ready to be dried for firing, exploiting the facility and beauty of clay as a material that can be transformed from the raw and impermanent to a final and enduring sculptural piece.
