For Term 4, 2026, this term workshop runs for 10 weeks and students attend a 3-hour workshop each week. These workshops are for all skill levels and aim to develop students’ knowledge and understanding of all aspects of creating sculpture in a range of media.

Students are encouraged to create works they want, with teachers providing guidance and advice when needed. Beginners are welcome and will be guided through the fundamentals of sculpture, starting with a relief sculpture project and developing their skills with support from their teacher.

Students can start in any term throughout the year.

What you will learn and create

  • Beginners will learn how to create a relief sculpture in a style of their choosing over their 10-week term. You will model in clay, cast in plaster and then colour your finished relief sculpture.
  • Continuing students and experienced sculptors can advance and refine their skills while working on their own personal projects. They can explore different sculptural mediums, techniques and styles, including sculpting in the round, making an armature and creating more complex moulds.
  • Depending on the complexity of your sculpture, your work may be completed in a single term or developed over multiple terms. Your teacher will guide you through the process.
  • Our atelier-style studio brings together students of all experience levels, creating a supportive environment for learning, observation and shared practice.
  • All students, regardless of experience, develop confidence working independently across a range of sculptural media and gain practical knowledge of studio and sculpture processes.

Meet Your Teacher – Monika Scarrabelotti

Monika Scarrabelotti has been teaching at TBSSS since 2018. Monika teaches the Thursday AM and Thursday PM Workshops, and occasionally teaches the Life Study. Monika began teaching with the sculpture department at the National Art School in 2017.  She received a Bachelor of Fine Art in sculpture at NAS in 2013 and recently completed the Masters of Fine Art program at the same school.  Specializing in the figure, Monika has spent the last few years fine-tuning skills in traditional and contemporary techniques of clay modeling, ceramic sculpture, mold making and…
