The Studio School

Founded in 1974, the Tom Bass Sculpture Studio School is Australia’s oldest and most respected sculpture school. For over 50 years, we’ve offered a place where creativity, craftsmanship, and community come together.

At our fully equipped studio in Erskineville, Sydney, students of all levels — from complete beginners to experienced artists — can learn and develop their skills in a welcoming, hands-on environment. Whether working in clay, stone, plaster, or wire, you’ll be guided one-on-one by practising professional sculptors, each committed to helping you see differently and express your unique artistic voice.

Getting There

By Train

  • A short 5-minute walk from Erskineville Station (T3 Bankstown Line).
  • Alternatively, 10–12 minutes’ walk from Newtown Station (T2 Inner West Line).

By Bus

  • Several bus routes stop along King Street and Swanson Street, both within easy walking distance of the studio.

By Car

  • On-street parking is available in Clara Street and surrounding streets.
  • Please check local parking signs for time limits and restrictions.

Accessibility

  • The main entry on Clara St has one stair that is required for entry. However, we have a second entry via a large roller door, located on Ada St, which is at street level with no stairs required for entry. If you have specific access needs, feel free to contact us before your visit.
