Thank you to those who joined us two Sundays ago for the opening of our 2018 Annual Student Exhibition and to help us celebrate 20 years in Erskineville. We were delighted to welcome the Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore, to open the event. It was a very special occasion.
We can confirm we had a record number of people at the opening and continued to have strong visitor numbers throughout the rest of the week. Many of them commented on the very high standard of work displayed! Congratulations to all our exhibiting students and sculptors.
We were very pleased to offer a number of exhibition prizes. This year, the prizewinners (pictured in order below) were:
Director’s Choice Prize
Elenga Murgia – Runaway
AGNSW Highly Commended Prizes
Robert Hamilton Forster – Pablo’s Tears
Barbara Castagna – Grace and acceptance
People’s Choice Prize
Anna Pedersen – Dancing inside
The Director’s Choice selection can be viewed at the Clara Street Gallery between 10am – 2pm weekdays until Tuesday 6 November.
Thank you to all who took the time to vote in the People’s Choice ballot – there were hundreds of votes to count and the competition was stiff!
We have also drawn the lucky door prize from the ballot box – the dinner for 8 at the Imperial Hotel goes to Melissa K.
We would like to acknowledge the Rose of Australia who provided delicious catering for this event, as well as donating the new, very generous, lucky door prize.
Finally, thank you to all the volunteers who gave up their time to help Wendy, Christine, Bernice, Monika and Michael set up and dismantle the exhibition. An exhibition of this size would not be possible without the dedication and energy of our student volunteers.
