L’opera is an exhibition of  more than 15 limestone & plaster assemblages, that Christine has been creating over the past year.

Clara Street Gallery and Christine, would like to invite everyone to an opening soiree on Saturday 25 June from 2:30 – 5pm, 1A Clara St, Erskineville. Christine’s interesting sculpture shapes will be on view and there will be drinks and nibbles or a cup of tea to enjoy.

Artist statement:

“I have long been drawn to the Sydney Opera House and Utzen’s design concept and to the construction methods settled upon by the architectural team  –  whereby reportedly the sails were visualized as sections of a whole sphere, likened to segments of an orange.  The overall effect was to give the ‘sails’ a relationship and an integrity inherent in their having originated from the same overall shape. I have been guided (to a large extent) by this principle in creating my own sculptural shapes, with varying degrees of success.  Perhaps, this principle is relevant to sculpture making in general, in that the parts of the piece of work should ideally serve, rather than master, the wholeness of the work.”

We look forward to seeing on on the afternoon of the 25 June.
