Moving Forward for TBSSS

The good news is that COVID-19 infection rates in Australia have been steadily improving, with the state government announcing the gradual lifting of restrictions in New South Wales last month. From June 1, galleries, cinemas and other recreational facilities will be able to re-open, which has prompted us to think carefully about the way forward for TBSSS.

Our teachers, management and board are working behind the scenes to devise a plan for the re-opening of the School, which we very much hope can occur in the near future. Adjustments will certainly need to be made, but we are positive that we can provide a safe and hygienic environment for our students to continue to pursue their love of sculpture. We will be further in touch with our community in due course.

Please don’t forget, however, that while we are still temporarily closed, the enrolments for our special workshops in the second half of the year are still open! We have a wonderful program planned: ice sculpture, alabaster carving, limestone carving and felt felted forms.

Despite this hiatus, our community has nonetheless been very busy! Over the last couple of weeks we have offered stone sales by appointment and it has been wonderful to see so many members of community drop by the Studio and tell us about what they are working on from home. Each of our teachers have also been hard at work pursuing their own practice, and we encourage everybody to check out their work on Instagram.

That’s all from us this month, and remember – stay safe!
