My first class with TBSSS was sometime ago when Tom was still teaching and I had just moved down south. I then returned recently with a mould I had made way back then to cast it! This is my 3rd term. I just love coming.
Where do you travel from each week?
I travel from Woonona a little suburb North of Wollongong.
What do you do when you’re not sculpting?
When I’m not sculpting I’m teaching art classes to children from my little studio in Woonona or project managing and building our new home and studio. Part of the house is straw bale so I actually end up doing more sculpting as it has clay walls!
What made you take up sculpting?
I have just loved working in 3D since I was very small and sculpture is my preferred medium. Before teaching I was a window and event dresser which allowed me to indulge in my love of making props. My first job in the arts was assisting sculptors in the UK where I grew up.
Tell us about what you’re working on currently…
I’m now planing my first big sculpture which will be the gate way to our home and studio space. I am very excited about it but know it will take some years to come to life. I am working on the maquettes at TBSSS.
