Student Profile: Arielle Morris

How long have been at TBSSS?
I’ve been coming to the studio for about 6 years.

Where do you travel from each week?
I come from Woollahra (not too far for a commute.)

What do you do when you’re not sculpting?
I now work as a florist, a profession I consider very creative and sculptural.

What made you take up sculpting?
I’ve always made art, and have been very lucky to grow up in a creative family, and always been creatively encouraged. I went to the national art school straight out of school, majoring in photography. I then went on to do my MFA at sydney college of the arts (also in photography)

My interest in sculpture began when I fell in love with clay at the potters wheel, having minored in ceramics at NAS. It grew from there, and gradually became my all encompassing creative passion.

Tell us about what you’re working on currently…
I am very interested in sculpting the figure – I’m currently working on a series of male figures in the Life Study Class, having been lucky enough to have done several life study classes, working from a life model.
