I think I started in late 2020 so it’s been just over a year. Most of my study has been during the pandemic.
Where do you travel from each week?
Either the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney or the Central Coast. Due to partner’s work, we have had to work around this.
What do you do when you’re not sculpting?
I have been doing some work for a not-for-profit on some days, some study, and doing some running for exercise. I am reviewing options regarding retuning to corporate work too. It has been mixed and busy for me recently.
What made you take up sculpting?
Sculptures are amazing and I have always admired the masters and current sculptors for their time and effort in creating their art. I always wanted to have the chance to create my own.
What inspires your sculpture practice?
My teacher – Wendy Black. She is an amazing sculptor. And the various artists historically and present day. The process itself is wonderful – the layers involved and phases until the final piece stage. Every week is different in class.
Learning the traditional way sculptors in Italy were taught has been humbling.
Tell us about what you’re working on currently…
I am currently completing my Rodin piece from The Gates of Hell.
Who are your favourite artists / sculptors?
Too many to choose from but Rodin, Tom Bass, Michelangelo, Henry Moore, Dali, Claudell, Matisse, Noguchi…These sculptors and more… too hard to list them all![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
