TBSSS Launches Online Sculpture Blog

As part of our COVID-19 revitalisation plan, TBSSS have recently launched the Sculpture Club Journal – a new online blog to engage with our students, teachers, broader community and any curious minds out there on the internet!

The Journal is a place to come and explore all things sculpture. A place to find interesting links to podcasts and films, to be inspired by historical and contemporary artists, to see the work of students, teachers and guest teachers. The journal will also dive into our rich Studio archive to share images and stories. It is a place to share ideas and to come together as a community.

A number of journal posts are live already! Check out the following highlights:

1. The Learning Curve: Georgina Mills – Learn about the background and practice of 2020 Tom Bass Prize finalist Georgina Mills (including her time at the Florence Academy of Art!)
2. From the Archive: “The Student” – Discover the history of Tom Bass’ iconic sculpture The Student, located in the grounds of Sydney University.
3. Spotlight On: Margel Hinder (1916 – 1995) – Focus in on Australian female sculpture Margel Hindel in this beautiful reflection written by Christine Crimmins.

The journal is intended to be written by our community – so we welcome all contributions!
If you have a submission for a feature, we would love to hear from you! Please get in touch via email at: admin@tbsss.org.au

This Journal is supported by the City of Sydney. We thank the City for their ongoing support.
