It’s been a busy couple of months for TBSSS teachers and guest teachers, whose work has been included in sculpture prizes and exhibitions. We thought we’d share news of recent achievements, as well as extend our congratulations.
Most recently at the 14th Annual Sculptures in the Garden, TBSSS teacher Peter Bartlett was awarded the Cameron Anderson Architects prize for Artistic Merit, with his wonderful timber sculpture ‘Circling’ (pictured above left). Congratulations Peter! TBSSS Guest Teacher Michael Vaynman won the Major Sculptures in the Garden Prize, with his bronze and stainless steel sculpture ‘Hope’ (pictured above right). Congratulations Michael on this significant achievement!
TBSSS Chair, Alabaster specialist teacher and sculptor Carol Crawford is once again a finalist in the Fisher’s Ghost Art Award now showing at Campbelltown Arts Centre. Now in its 62nd year, the Fisher’s Ghost Art Award is an annual award which invites artists to submit works in a variety of artistic categories and mediums. Carol’s sculpture DVORA (pictured left) is on show with the other finalist artworks until 6 December. Congratulations Carol!
TBSSS Teacher Monika Scarrabelotti recently held another solo exhibition titled ‘Flights of Whimsy’ at Grainger Gallery in Canberra. Monika’s exhibition was very well received, with several sculptures selling. You can view the catalogue here. Congratulations Monika!
TBSSS Regular Guest Teacher Jenny Pollak recently won third place in the 2024 Newcastle Poetry Prize with her poem ‘Tornadoes, and other disasters.’ You can purchase the 2024 Poetry Anthology, which features Jenny’s poem here. Congratulations Jenny!
