At Tom Bass Sculpture Studio School, it is part of our ethos to ‘promote sculpture in the wider community’ and to support youth and people with a disability to attend our workshop classes in Erskineville. One of the ways we do this, is through our long running scholarship program. In the last five years we have supported over 100 scholars, giving them the opportunity to be part of our community and learn sculpture with us.

Who can apply? Emerging artists aged 18 – 25 years with a particular interest in sculpture and / or candidates who have a long term physical or mental disability who have a promising artistic direction and interest. Applications are now closed for Term 2, but we are now accepting applications for Term 3 and 4. For more information on applying, please visit our website here.

What some of our scholars have said about the opportunity:

“I am beyond grateful for TBSSS and this scholarship opportunity. I could not even come close to the art that I do now without the guidance and help I have received at TBSSS. Now I see the once impossible dream of a blind professional sculptor coming true with every single day I spend at this wonderful sculpture studio.” Elizabeth P, TBSSS accessibility scholar

“Being a TBSSS scholar has allowed me valuable time to be able to focus on my sculpture practice within such a professional studio environment. This experience has helped me in building my fundamental skills in the process of casting.” Leeroy C, TBSSS Youth Scholar.

How to support: Our scholarship program would not be possible without the generosity of our donors. We thank them for their ongoing commitment and support. If you would like to become a donor, please click here for more information.

We are currently working on some new fundraising initiatives for this important program and we will be sharing more on this soon, so watch this space!
