The exhibition features carved alabaster, limestone, soapstone, sandstone, beautiful plaster and ceramic forms, and a some found-objects. Congratulations to all, especially students, who are taking part in the exhibition. Please feel free to come and visit the Gallery during office opening…

Our founder, Tom Bass, used to say ‘I love the sound of people at work.’ And last month, when Paul Hopmeier ran his very popular limestone carving masterclass at TBSSS, the sound of mallets, chisels and saws rang out through the studio. Over three days in April, veteran limestone-whisperer Paul Hopemeier returned to TBSSS to run his yearly masterclass. Each student begins with a large 290 x 660 x 660mm limestone block (from the Mt Gambier quarry)…

Since then, he has run sold-out intensive marble carving workshops each January and it has become a highlight on the TBSSS calendar. As you likely know, Alnassar couldn’t make it to Australia this January. We very much hope he will be able to come again in 2022! In the meantime, we thought it would be nice…

Where do you travel from each week? I…
